The Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce had to make a few changes to the 37th Annual Texas State Forest Festival due to rising COVID-19 numbers. A few of the events had to be postponed until spring 2022, according to their press release.

The events affected include the Car Show, the 50th Annual Southern Hushpuppy Championships, Big Axe BBQ Competition, and East Texas Cheerleading & Pom Pom/Dance Championship. These changes where made after recommendations from the Angelina County & Cities Health District and local physicians advised the Forest Festival committee to postpone all large gatherings scheduled inside the George H. Henderson, Jr. Expo Center’s main arena and outside barns.

Many, family-fun activities will still go on during the 37th Annual Texas State Forest Festival, September 16th through the 19th, at the Expo. You will still be able to enjoy all of the carnival rides, great food, petting zoo, Lumber-Jacked 5K & Fun Run, Market Day, the new Sea Lion Splash Show and Danny Conner’s Reptile Adventures at this year’s festival.
